Life Shouldn't Be This Hard... Right?

Adulting is not easy. It's practically a full time job itself. And while some may say "that's just life", I wholeheartedly disagree and refuse to believe that life is supposed to be this miserable and hard. There is just no way I am going to spend the next 50 years of my life in a dead-end, uninspiring and unfulfilling job. There is no way I am going to always be living paycheck to paycheck and constantly stressed about finances. There is no way I am never going to be able to comfortably afford to live on my own. Life should not be this complicated, and I am convinced it all has to do with today's society. 

Our society teaches us that money is everything, and if we can't be rich, we don't deserve to live great lives. It teaches us that work is your entire life. You  need to dedicate at least 40 hours a week to a boring job that doesn't care about your well-being, and if you're not willing to bend over backwards for them, then it's the end of the line for you. Society teaches us that our mental and physical health is not as important as our jobs. We are stuck in this never ending cycle of work, eat, sleep, repeat. 

I'm not saying that work can't be fulfilling. I believe that people can enjoy work if they are doing something they are passionate about. However, most people are unable to achieve that. Most people end up spending their entire lives in jobs that they do not like. But what else are we supposed to do? We need money to survive, and in this economy, we need it now more than ever. You miss a day of work and suddenly you're struggling to make ends meet. This world is not built for easy survival. You basically need to give up most of your life just to be able to afford to live. 

It's heartbreaking.

I hope that one day we can come together as a society and break this cycle. God gave us life and I believe we are meant to enjoy everything this Earth has to offer. I don't believe we were ever meant to struggle this much just to stay alive and I definitely don't believe we are supposed to live without doing what we are most passionate about. 

I truly hope that someday I will be exactly where I want to be in life and I can say that I lived my life to the fullest. That would be my greatest achievement.
